Senior Medical Coder

CSI Companies is seeking an experienced Professional Fee (ProFee) Coder with a strong background in Mental Health and/or Primary Care coding. This role is responsible for accurately reviewing, assigning, and validating CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes for outpatient provider services to ensure compliance with federal regulations and payer-specific guidelines.

The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of behavioral health documentation standards, E/M coding guidelines, and regulatory compliance within physician practice or outpatient settings. This role requires high accuracy, productivity, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Hours: 40 hours/week – Monday to Friday, standard business hours Location: Remote (CST) – Must reside in Texas Pay: Competitive Market Rate Position Type: Consultant – No C2C

Work Authorization: Visas are acceptable (any EAD). Candidates must be eligible to work on W2 and must not require sponsorship for at least 6–12 months.

What you’ll do: • Review and assign accurate CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS codes for professional fee services in mental health and/or primary care • Ensure compliance with CMS guidelines, payer policies, and regulatory requirements • Interpret provider documentation to support appropriate code selection and optimal reimbursement • Accurately code Evaluation & Management (E/M) services in accordance with current guidelines • Identify documentation deficiencies and communicate queries to providers when necessary • Maintain productivity and quality standards as defined by the organization • Participate in coding audits and quality assurance reviews • Stay current with annual coding updates, regulatory changes, and payer policy revisions • Collaborate with billing, compliance, and revenue cycle teams to resolve coding-related denials and discrepancies

What we’re looking for: • Active CPC, CCS-P, or equivalent coding certification • Minimum 2+ years of Professional Fee (ProFee) coding experience • Direct coding experience in Mental Health (Behavioral Health/Psychiatry) and/or Primary Care • Strong understanding of E/M guidelines (2021+ changes) • Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems • Experience working in EMR/EHR systems • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high coding accuracy • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
