TITLE: Construction Safety Manager
TYPE: Contract (3-10+months)
LOCATION: Monticello, AR
PAY: $55 - $60/hr*

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
We are seeking a
Construction Safety Manager
to ensure safety is the highest priority during the construction of a new mill being built.
Maintain all safety documentation, including safe work plans, inspections, hot work and excavation permits, toolbox meeting minutes, and all required tickets and records.
Support the Project Manager, Construction Manager, and Mill Safety Manager in developing, implementing, and administering the project safety program.
Conduct site safety orientations for contractors and visitors.
Regularly monitor construction sites and maintain consistent communication with contractors and mill employees.
Perform safety, behavioral, and housekeeping audits to verify compliance and promote continuous improvement.
Enforce the Weyerhaeuser Contractor Lockout Standard (RADAR process: lock on first, off last).
Complete OSHA-required inspections for tools, equipment, and other regulated items (e.g., electrical cords, rigging, mobile equipment).
Issue permits for high-risk activities such as hot work, trenching, confined space entry, and lifting operations.
Track and report contractor construction hours on a monthly basis.
Contribute to the creation of safe work plans, lockout/tagout procedures, JSAs, and standard operating procedures.
Participate in incident investigations and assist in root-cause analysis when accidents occur.
Support pre-startup safety assessments and commissioning plans to ensure readiness and compliance.
Perform outdoor inspections and monitor field construction activities in various weather conditions.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Safety Management in a construction setting
Ability to demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt quickly to changing site conditions
Experience collaborating with diverse teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously is highly desirable
OSHA compliance and interpretation (OSHA 1926/1910 standards)
Knowledge of NFPA 70E
Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint Proficiency
Hazard Recognition Training
Root cause analysis
Conducting training proficiency
Ability to communicate effectively on multiple levels
