Animal Care Technician

The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of

Animal Care Technician

in the Animal Care Services division within the Sheriff’s department.

The ideal candidate will:

Demonstrates genuine compassion and comfort working hands-on with animals of all temperaments, including those that are injured, ill, or under quarantine

Able to assist with sensitive procedures, including euthanasia, with professionalism and emotional resilience

Knowledgeable about basic animal care, feeding routines, and facility sanitation standards

Comfortable working in a fast-paced animal care environment with attention to safety and cleanliness

Communicates clearly and courteously with the public regarding lost or stray animals, licensing, and adoptions

Provides supportive, service-oriented assistance to pet adopters and community volunteers

Maintains accurate records and follows established policies and procedures

Works effectively both independently and under general supervision

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

MINIMUM:

Equivalent to graduation from high school and any experience in the care and handling of animals.

PREFERRED:

In addition to the minimum requirements, additional experience in an animal care facility that required euthanasia. Possess a Registered Veterinary Technician License.

Salary/Compensation: $3,582 - $3,941 per month
