Compost Turner Operator
Huntersville, NC

Job Summary
This position performs various project-related tasks requiring the safe operation of vehicles and heavy/agricultural equipment. Equipment may include, but is not limited to, compost turners, front-end loaders, skid steers, agricultural tractors with manure spreaders, and water trucks.
This position is a safety-sensitive position and requires a clear mind and diligence. The employee has the responsibility for his/her own safety as well as the safety of others.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Previous experience operating heavy machinery or equipment.
Basic understanding of composting processes and organic waste management.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Operate all equipment safely at all times
Perform compost windrow turning, covering, watering, and site cleanup
Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform preventative maintenance
Maintain accurate compost operational records
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to safely operate heavy or agricultural equipment
Ability to perform basic math calculations
Ability to follow directions and work independently
Mechanical aptitude is a plus

Education & Experience
High School Diploma or GED required
Valid Driver’s License required
Minimum of 2 years of heavy equipment operating experience preferred
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Ability to sit, turn, climb, balance, reach, stand, walk, lift up to 50 lbs., talk, hear, and see
Regular exposure to outdoor environmental conditions without effective weather protection
Exposure to atmospheric conditions such as dust and heat
Exposure to hazards, including moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, and high heat
