The Production Engineer is accountable for sustaining and optimizing existing manufacturing equipment and processes. The Production Engineer II will provide hands on technical production support, problem-solving and technical direction to their assigned production areas. Experienced in all areas of responsibility and a subject matter expert in at least one area. Covers areas of responsibility independently at least 80 percent of the time.
Major Responsibilities:
Daily Activities - Engage with personnel within the manufacturing cells to instill an understanding of the use of engineering principles to resolve issues
Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s) (Recipe/work instruction updates, and collaborating with Process Development Engineer if new equipment is required
Attend daily SQDC meetings and complete assigned Task List item
Respond to production support calls as needed
Weekly monitor FPY (First Pass Yield) and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) metrics for potential improvement opportunities
Advanced Product Quality Planning – For existing manufacturing equipment and processes
Maintain Existing Process Flows / PFMEA / Work Instructions
Maintain Flowcards / Time Studies
Assist Quality Engineer with Control Plans
Project Support – perform tasks from action plans
Growth/PDPs
Kaizen/Sprints/A3/SMED
Business cases
Readiness Review
Act as the Subject Matter Expert to Train the Trainers on work instruction updates
Complete assigned C4 improvement activities
Identify possible business cases from process optimization and capacity increases
Mentor Production Engineer I team members
Cross train in other manufacturing areas to serve as a backup Production Engineer as needed
All other duties as assigned by management
Requirements:
A minimum of 2 years of experience in a technical manufacturing position
A two-year technical degree is required.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Manufacturing) is preferred.
Good leadership, communication, and coaching skills are necessary.
Strong technical skills and the ability to read engineering drawings and schematics are necessary.
Lean Manufacturing experience is preferred.
Must be goal oriented with a high degree of enthusiasm.
The ideal candidate will be team oriented, self-motivated, able to prioritize tasks or projects independently, and forward thinking
Must be within commuting distance of Louisville, Kentucky
