Matern Staffing is hiring an HR & Safety Coordinator for a telecommunications consulting firm in Fredericksburg, VA. Using your knowledge of onboarding, policy administration, and workplace safety practices, the HR & Safety Coordinator ensures employees are properly vetted, trained, and supported while company programs, documentation, and safety standards remain current and effective. This direct hire position is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about building strong teams and safe working environments.
Salary:
$70,000 – $75,000 per year

What You’ll Do:
Maintain accurate employee records and support HR program integrity using company HR software
Coordinate full-cycle recruiting efforts, including posting roles across industry channels, screening candidates, supporting candidate sourcing, and supporting hiring managers throughout the interview process
Build and manage relationships with job boards and recruitment platforms (e.g., Indeed) to attract qualified candidates
Facilitate onboarding for new employees, ensuring all documentation, safety, and compliance are completed accurately and efficiently
Collaborate with department leaders to create and update job descriptions and clearly define role responsibilities
Maintain, update, and enforce the Company Handbook and Safety Manual
Plan and document safety meetings, conduct on-site field visits and inspections, and lead Tailgate Safety Meetings
Oversee management and compliance of a 50-vehicle company fleet
Monitor workplace safety practices, report concerns, and support corrective actions and compliance initiatives
What You’ll Need:
5+ years of experience in human resources, safety coordination, or administrative support within an industrial, manufacturing, or operations environment preferred
Working knowledge of onboarding processes, employee documentation, and HR compliance requirements
Familiarity with workplace safety programs, training documentation, and incident reporting procedures
Strong organizational, communication, and record-keeping skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism
Ability for occasional travel
Comfort using HR software, applicant tracking systems, and standard office applications
Ability to collaborate effectively with leadership, employees, and external partners
Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
