Brazing Technician – Copper Tubing (Oxy-Acetylene) (Houston)

1. About the Role： We’re hiring a Torch Brazer (Oxy-Acetylene) with hands-on experience flame/torch brazing copper tubing (silver brazing) to support production of high-quality mechanical assemblies. This role requires strong workmanship, the ability to read prints, and consistent quality that meets production and safety standards.Location: 5121 Hiltonview Road, Houston, Texas 77086.

2. Key Responsibilities： Perform oxy-acetylene torch/flame brazing (silver brazing) on copper tubing/components according to approved procedures, work instructions, and production requirements. Prepare joints prior to brazing: cut, deburr, clean, fit-up, and ensure proper alignment/clearance. Control heat input and filler flow to produce sound, leak-tight brazed joints (as applicable). Set up and operate torch equipment; select and use appropriate brazing rod/filler metal and flux (if required). Support basic leak checking / pressure testing (as applicable) and perform rework on nonconforming joints per instructions. Read and interpret mechanical drawings/prints to ensure correct fit-up and execution. Conduct in-process checks using common measuring tools (e.g., tape measure, calipers, gauges). Troubleshoot common brazing issues (joint cleanliness, heat control, oxidation/contamination, filler flow) and escalate equipment concerns as needed. Maintain a clean and organized work area; follow OSHA and company safety requirements, including PPE and safe handling of gas cylinders.

3. Required Qualifications： 1+ year hands-on experience with oxy-acetylene torch/flame brazing on copper tubing/components in a manufacturing/shop environment. Ability to read mechanical drawings/prints and follow work instructions/SOPs. Solid understanding of joint preparation, heat control, and basic defect prevention (e.g., overheating, poor capillary flow, contamination). Basic capability to diagnose common torch/process issues and take corrective action. Strong attention to detail, quality mindset, and reliable attendance. Must be able to pass a brazing test (torch brazing on copper). Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have) Experience with HVAC/refrigeration copper line brazing (silver brazing) and leak-tight workmanship. Familiarity with visual inspection criteria and basic defect identification/rework standards. Experience working in a fast-paced production environment. Basic TIG (GTAW) welding experience is a plus.
