An exciting opportunity is available for a skilled Registered Nurse with stepdown experience to provide exceptional patient care in a contract role based in Birmingham, AL. This position offers the chance to work in a dynamic healthcare setting focused on patients with cardiac conditions, supporting a multidisciplinary team in delivering high-quality nursing care. Key responsibilities include monitoring and managing patients with heart disease, utilizing critical nursing skills such as BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications, and maintaining accurate and timely charting using Epic. The nurse-patient ratio is typically 1:4, allowing for comprehensive and attentive care. Nurses may be required to float to similar units within the float pool as needed, providing flexibility and variety in daily assignments. The environment supports a 14-bed unit with a consistent emphasis on patient safety and clinical excellence. Qualifications/Desired Experience: Active RN license with experience in stepdown or cardiac nursing Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications Proficiency in Epic electronic health records system Ability to work every other weekend and float within related units Strong assessment and critical thinking skills Compliance with flu and COVID vaccine requirements, or approved medical/religious exemptions Schedule/Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week, with shifts starting any Monday Every other weekend required Call not required This contract role offers a position within a facility known for compassionate care in a community-focused environment.
