Pharmacy Technician - Galveston (up to 19 hrs/wk)

*Minimum Qualifications:* * High school diploma or equivalent * Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) * *OR* * Registered as a Pharmacist Intern with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) *PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE* * ACPE approved IV (sterile products) certification preferred.

*JOB DESCRIPTION* The Pharmacy Technologist assists Pharmacists in providing drug distribution, technical services, and clinical services associated with the preparation, storage and dispensing of pharmaceuticals. *ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS* * Prepares unit-dose medications specific to patient needs including patient's weight, allergies, and age (e.g., pediatric, neonate, adolescent, adult, and geriatric). * Retrieves and delivers medication orders and supplies. * Prepares sterile products utilizing aseptic technique and USP 797 standards * Compounds bulk and extemporaneous pharmaceuticals specific to patients needs including weight and age (e.g., pediatric, neonate, adolescent, adult, and geriatric) utilizing USP 795 standards. * Demonstrates the ability to operate automated technology including compounding, repackaging, cartfill and Automated Drug Systems. * Communicates effectively with other pharmacy employees, healthcare professionals, and patients while appropriately recognizing age (e.g., pediatric, neonate, adolescent, adult, and geriatric). * Maintains adequate drug inventories in pharmacy areas and patient care areas and notifies the appropriate personnel when shortages and/or outages are noted. * Performs quality assurance/improvement audits * Maintains a neat clean and organized work area. * Demonstrates flexibility in staffing assignments. * Assists pharmacists in filling ambulatory prescriptions specific to patient needs including patient's weight, allergies, and age (e.g., pediatric, neonate, adolescent, adult, and geriatric). * Assists in record keeping activities in any assigned area. * Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure. * Performs related duties as required. *KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES* * Effective communication skills * Demonstrates ability to prioritize and solve problems * Able to spend most of the day standing, walking, or bending. Able to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, pull, reach, push up to 50 lbs., and regularly and occasionally lift 0-30 lbs.

*WORK SCHEDULE:* Up to 19.99 hours per week with no benefits. Must be willing to work any shift.
