Required Qualifications (Emergency Room RN / Travel Nurse)
Active Illinois RN license (in hand) — required for Illinois nursing jobs and travel RN positions
Minimum 1 year of Emergency Room RN / ED experience
Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (required)
Experience with Epic EMR (required) — proficiency in real-time documentation
Strong clinical skills: rapid triage, IV initiation/maintenance, phlebotomy, 12-lead EKG acquisition and dysrhythmia recognition
Competence managing emergency meds, splinting, airway and respiratory interventions
Experience caring for medical and behavioral health emergencies (trauma, burns, seizures, overdose, acute psychosis, suicidal patients)
Recent Nursys report (within last 2 weeks) required upon submission
Community hospital experience preferred — great for candidates seeking community hospital and urgent care nurse roles
Key Responsibilities (ER Nurse / Travel Nurse)
Deliver high-quality, evidence-based emergency nursing care in a fast-paced offsite ER/urgent care environment
Perform rapid assessment, triage, stabilization, and ongoing reassessment for patients across the lifespan
Initiate and manage IV therapy, collect labs, perform EKGs, and administer emergency medications per protocol
Recognize and respond to clinical deterioration, multisystem organ dysfunction, and cardiac dysrhythmias
Provide safe, effective care for trauma, orthopedic injuries, burns, and behavioral health crises with appropriate safety measures
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (Providers, Radiology, Behavioral Health, Transport) to support timely diagnostics and patient flow
Maintain accurate, real-time documentation in Epic EMR and adhere to institutional policies and documentation standards
Follow infection prevention, isolation, and PPE protocols to ensure staff and patient safety
