Lab Clerk / Specimen Processing Specialist
Seattle, WA (7th Ave -98104)
Schedule/Shift:
Monday - Friday
1:30pm-10pm
Overview of Responsibilities:
Perform meticulous specimen processing including receiving, verifying patient identification, sorting, and preparing biological specimens.
Utilize EHR and LIS computers to review data, label specimens, and load lab equipment.
Operate laboratory equipment such as centrifuges and copiers.
Manage phone inquiries from providers regarding test ordering, specimen requirements, and patient results.
Contact reference laboratories for test inquiries and issue resolution.
Handle documentation for lab incidents, resolve specimen issues, and scan external results into the EHR.
Conduct routine equipment maintenance including recording temperatures and cleaning laboratory stations.
Participate in Quality Improvement and Lean Process Improvement activities to ensure laboratory efficiency.
Pay : $21.30 - $22.00 an hour(Dependant on experience)
Requirements:
Prior experience in a clinical lab setting or phlebotomy.
Proficiency in using EMR (EPIC) and laboratory information systems (LIS).
Ability to act professionally and respectfully toward physicians, staff, and patients.
Reliable attendance for the scheduled Monday through Friday shift.
Contract Length : 520 Hours. Potential opportunity to convert to permanent hire after satisfactory completion of contract.
