THE OPPORTUNITY
The Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) serves as a strategic business partner to the executive team, responsible for developing and executing the organization’s people and culture strategy. This role provides vision, leadership, and direction for all aspects of the people strategy —including organizational design, talent management, employee relations and engagement, total rewards, performance management, diversity & inclusion, learning & development, HR technology, risk and compliance.
The CHRO is a trusted advisor to the CEO and Senior Leadership Team (SLT), shaping workforce strategies that align with long‑term business goals, fostering an inclusive culture, and driving organizational performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic HR Leadership
Collaborate with the Senior leadership team (SLT) to continuously evolve the people strategy and programming to advance the company's business objectives, drive organizational growth, transformation, risk mitigation and operational excellence.
Serve as key contributor to corporate strategy, culture and business planning
Partner with the SLT to promote a high‑performance culture through gradual reform that emphasizes Cam Clark’s core values of integrity, commitment, growth, community, and fun.
Onboard, lead, and mentor a team of HR professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
Governance and Risk Management
Integrate risk management into all aspects of the people strategy, proactively identifying potential organizational, reputational, and compliance risks tied to human capital decisions and ensuring appropriate mitigation plans are in place.
Lead HR due diligence and integration efforts for acquisitions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and culture.
Organizational Effectiveness & HR Operations
Collaborate with the SLT on organizational design initiatives that continue to promote an optimized operating model and other workforce optimization initiatives to ensure agility and scalability.
Oversee HR systems, data analytics, and technology to enhance decision‑making and operational efficiency.
Act as a change agent, influencing and guiding leaders through organizational transformations, promoting a culture of adaptability and continuous improvement.
Talent Management and Development
Oversee the development and execution of talent management strategies that attract, retain, and develop top talent.
Provide leadership and oversight of an effective learning and development program that fosters a culture of continuous growth and professional development, ensuring employees have the skills and opportunities to grow within the organization.
Implement innovative HR programs that support employee well‑being, diversity, and inclusion.
Oversee the implementation and understanding of a comprehensive compensation and total rewards system that promotes an equitable and market driven program, supports the employee value proposition, and the attraction and retention of top talent.
Collaboration and Influence
Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including the CEO, SLT, and corporate and operational leaders, to identify and address HR related challenges and opportunities, and to advance initiatives that support business objectives.
Foster the development and impact of a Center of Excellence for corporate and operational leaders to draw on for HR programming to advance their dealership or departmental objectives.
Promote a collaborative and inclusive work environment that aligns with the company's values and strategic goals.
Develop and oversee an internal communications program that establishes the employee value proposition and effectively promotes the delivery of the right information at the right time to the right stakeholders.
Performance and Metrics
Establish and monitor key HR metrics to measure the effectiveness of HR initiatives and their impact on business outcomes.
Utilize data-driven approaches to inform HR strategies and decision-making; provide regular reports and strategic insights to the CEO and SLT on HR performance and organizational health.
Maintain oversight of a comprehensive HRIS system that reports on employee metrics across the organization.
Leadership and Team Development
Provide visionary leadership and direction to the HR team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and excellence that aligns with the organization’s values and strategic priorities.
Mentor, coach, and develop HR leaders and professionals, building organizational capability and ensuring the team has the skills, confidence, and strategic mindset to deliver high-impact people initiatives.
Cultivate a high-performing and future‑ready HR function by investing in professional growth, encouraging innovation in HR practices, and developing succession plans within the team to ensure long‑term organizational strength.
THE INDIVIDUAL
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required.
Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) and / or a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation is strongly preferred.
Equivalent senior-level leadership experience may be considered in lieu of advanced education.
Experience
15+ years of progressive Human Resources leadership experience, including at least 5 years in an executive or enterprise-wide role (CHRO, VP HR, or equivalent).
Demonstrated success developing and executing people and culture strategies that enable organizational growth, transformation, and operational excellence.
Experience advising and partnering with CEOs, and executive teams on strategic workforce planning, culture, and succession.
Proven record of leading HR functions across multi-location and cross-border operations (Canada and U.S.), with deep understanding of regional employment legislation and compliance.
Experience in organizational integration and growth through acquisition.
Strong leadership presence, communication, and relationship-building skills, fostering trust, alignment, and accountability across the organization.
Demonstrated expertise in all aspects of HR including total rewards, talent management, and organizational design.
Experience within the automotive, retail, or related multi‑unit service industries considered an asset.
Willingness to travel approximately 25–40% as needed to support enterprise initiatives and leadership engagement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is located on‑site at the Airdrie office with travel, as needed, to locations in Alberta, BC and the USA.
