Associate Textile Technologist
Location: Manhattan, NY (Hybrid – 3 Days Onsite / 2 Days WFH)
Pay Rate: $30–$35/hour (W2)
Duration: 3-Month Contract (40 hours/week, potential overtime)
About the Role
We are seeking an Associate Textile Technologist to support the Graphic and Product Design teams in executing seasonal print, pattern, and graphic developments. This role is responsible for translating creative design concepts into technically viable, factory-ready artwork while ensuring alignment with seasonal calendars and production deadlines.
The ideal candidate will have experience in apparel graphics, print development, and cross-functional coordination with design teams and overseas factories .
Key Responsibilities
Partner with Graphic Design, Stylists, and Product teams to interpret design intent and build detailed spec packs for factory execution
Ensure all prints, patterns, and graphics are technically viable and meet regional and vendor requirements
Manage strike-offs, knit-downs, handlooms, and sample submissions in preparation for milestone meetings
Review print and graphic submissions with cross-functional teams and provide technical comments and corrections
Track approvals and ensure all deadlines align with seasonal production calendars
Maintain accurate documentation in PLM/Centric and seasonal tracking systems
Communicate printing techniques, repeat limitations, layout constraints, and fabric considerations to vendors
Support special graphic requests, collaboration projects, and chase programs
Manage and maintain the fabric and strike-off reference library
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Fashion, Textile Design, Graphic Design, Apparel Production, or related field (or equivalent experience)
2–5 years of experience in apparel graphics, print development, textile product development, or sourcing
Experience approving colors, layouts, and strike-offs
Knowledge of print repeats, fabric content, yarn dyes, garment dyeing, washing, and fabric finishing
Understanding of printing processes and how graphic development impacts commercialization
Experience working with overseas factories
Technical Skills
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (required)
Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Experience with PLM/Centric systems preferred
Ability to create detailed graphic spec packs for factory production
Soft Skills
Highly organized and detail-oriented
Strong time management and ability to manage multiple seasons and projects simultaneously
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proactive, solution-oriented, and collaborative
Comfortable working in a fast-paced seasonal calendar environment
Work Environment
Hybrid schedule (3 days onsite in Manhattan, 2 days remote)
40-hour workweek with potential overtime during peak seasonal deadlines
Contract role supporting team coverage
