Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) protects, promotes, and optimizes health and abilities, prevention of illness and injury, and alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, along with advocacy in the care of individuals and families. The RN is responsible for compliance with all standards of practice and professional development as per the New York State Nurse Practice Act, United Health Services policies, ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the Bill of Patient Rights. The RN promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care.
Responsibilities
Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement and evaluate nursing care in managing a group of patients.
Educate patients and families in health promotion and disease management.
Utilize knowledge of pharmacology and safely administer medications.
Contribute to productivity and effective resource utilization.
Comply with all nursing practice standards and regulatory requirements.
Participate in Nursing Shared Governance Model and improvement initiatives.
Engage in professional development and continuing nursing education.
Provide a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.
Follow all United Health Services Values and complete other assigned duties.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
Current New York State RN License.
BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
2+ years of medical-surgical nursing experience.
Experience in direct patient care for a minimum of six months to three years.
Collaborative communication and critical thinking skills.
