County Attorney

*Overview* The Hamilton County (NY) Board of Supervisors is seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual or firm to serve as County Attorney. This key position offers a unique opportunity to provide legal counsel and representation to the County and its various departments. The County Attorney will be responsible for advising the County Board of Supervisors, handling litigation matters, drafting legal documents, administering contacts, and ensuring compliance with federal, state and local laws.

The ideal candidate will possess a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school, be admitted to practice law in the State of New York, and have a minimum of two years of experience with the public sector. Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills are essential. The County Attorney must demonstrate a commitment to public service, ethical standards, and the ability to work effectively with elected officials, department heads, and the public. Hamilton County offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience. The salary will be dependent on qualifications and experience.

This may be a full time or part time position; it is negotiable.

*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:*

Graduation from a law school with a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

*SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:*

Must be licensed to practice law in New York State and have at least two (2) years of experience as a practicing attorney preferably in the public sector/municipal law.
