Job Title:\nPrincipal Structural Engineer

What you’ll be\ndoing:

  • Analysis and Design of complex steel structures\nutilising Eurocodes, British Standards and BAE standards, to\nsupport submarine build
  • You will utilise your\nknowledge of specific regulations & requirements beyond that\nused within BAE Systems i.e., LOLER, codes of compliance, weld\nspecifications, geometric tolerance
  • \n
  • Responsible for interpreting Competent in computer based\nanalytical techniques\nincluding finite element analysis, CAD modelling and\nengineering schematics (Abaqus, S-Frame)
  • \n
  • Supporting the manufacturing, assembly, lifting,\nhandling, and installation processes of Submarine Structures,\nModules and Components
  • Supporting towards\nproduction of concept drawings, layouts, and other technical\noutputs consistent with contractual requirements to meet target\ndates and budget demands
  • Responsible for\napprovals, checking analysis and outputs

Your skills and\nexperiences:

    \n
  • Engineering Degree BEng/MEng or equivalent\nexperience
  • Civil/Mechanical/Structural Based\nand Chartered Engineer CEng Status or Incorporated Engineer IEng\nStatus nearing CEng Status
  • Expertise in structural steel\nanalysis and\nDesign
  • Fully conversant in use of Eurocodes\nand British Standards
  • Competent in reviewing and\nchecking of Design Outputs
  • Good understanding\nof mechanical engineering, structural steelwork, knowledge of\nlifting handling and LOLER
  • Working knowledge\nof ABAQUS (Software), S-Frame Foran, MathCAD and excel
  • \n
  • Previous knowledge in a production environment –\nexperience in a marine production environment\nadvantageous

The Specialist\nStructures Department team:

As a\nPrincipal Engineer, you will be working with a dual function team\n(design and engineers) consisting of 14 people at various seniority\nlevels. The team is responsible for engineering assessments of the\ndesigns in support of build. You will be working in conjunction\nwith design to produce equipment and/or support operation in\nproduction to produce safety-critical equipment. We offer\nrelocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to\nmeeting eligibility criteria.
