Initially working remotely from the main office and team, this role provides the opportunity to eventually develop into a new office and team, increasing the company scope. This role will be suitable for an existing Principal or Associate or could be a good Senior seeking the next step. Key Responsibilities Support the Director in managing and delivering archaeological consultancy projects. Oversee or contribute to report production, including DBAs, EIA scoping, ES Chapters, setting and significance assessments. Liaise with clients, contractors, and curators to ensure quality and timely project delivery. Project design and management of archaeological fieldwork. In future, manage a small team of consultants, including workload planning and report review. Contribute to tendering and business development. Provide mentorship and quality assurance for the wider archaeology team. Maintain high standards of health & safety and professional practice. Essential Experience Proven background in archaeology, with a minimum of 5+ years in a consultancy or senior contractor role. Strong track record in desk-based assessments and report writing. Demonstrated experience in managing fieldwork projects (small to large-scale). Experience managing archaeological teams, whether at a contractor or as a consultant. Familiarity with the UK planning system, and curatorial engagement. A proven ability to generate project income, whether through existing client relationships or active business development. Involvement in tender submissions and project design. Desirable Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff. Background in reviewing and approving technical reports. Key Skills A strong technical knowledge base, commercial mindset, communication and teamwork, leadership, empathy, work ethic, excellent understanding of Health & Safety responsibilities and of the UK planning system, excellent writing skills, time management, ability to critique and review colleague’s writing and provide suitable feedback. Education & Professional Membership A relevant undergraduate degree (Archaeology, History, etc.); postgraduate degrees welcomed but not required.
