Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and forward‑thinking Consultant Stroke Physician to join their friendly and high‑performing stroke team. You will become part of a well‑established service of 8 Consultant Stroke Physicians and 4 Specialist Doctors, working together to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred stroke care across Somerset. Main Duties of the Role As a Consultant Stroke Physician, you will play a key role in delivering excellent hyperacute, acute, and rehabilitation stroke care. Your responsibilities will include: Leading daily ward rounds on the Hyperacute Stroke Unit Supporting 24/7 thrombolysis and collaborating with the AGWS telemedicine network Running 7‑day rapid access TIA clinics (based at Musgrove Park Hospital) Caring for stroke patients at Musgrove Park Hospital and Yeovil District Hospital Contributing to stroke rehabilitation and Early Supported Discharge pathways Providing clinical supervision and teaching to junior doctors and medical students Participating in the 1 in 8 weekend HASU on‑call rota About the Trust Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is the first fully integrated provider of acute, community, mental health, and primary care services in the country.
