We are recruiting for the following position for our Durham office.Type: Full Time/PermanentRole SummaryReporting to a Partner, you will be involved in the delivery of tax compliance and advisory services for a portfolio of some of the most wealthy and exciting entrepreneurial businesses across our region. The delivery of your work will be supplemented using cutting-edge technology to enhance efficiencies and client delivery.Main Tasks and ResponsibilitiesAdvise clients on a wide variety of personal, corporate and advisory tax issuesUndertake corporation tax compliance including reviewing and finalising draft tax computations produced by the audit and accounts teams, raise queries internally and externally with clients.Allocate and manage assignments to team membersReview team members workIf desirable, assist the partner with a variety of tax projects including trust and inheritance tax planning work, R&D claims and corporate restructuring workProvide guidance, training and support to both tax colleagues and wider team members on a variety of tax issuesOrganise and deliver tax training sessions for the whole firm on a variety of tax issuesResearch technical tax matters for the partnersAttend internal team audit meetings, acting as a liaison to share relevant informationAttend pre and post year end planning meetings for relevant clients as requestedBe proactive and participate in team meetings, share knowledge and ideasAttend client meetings and external events where appropriateAttend networking events with solicitors and other referrersDemonstrate and promote the firm’s values, leading by example and where appropriate discussing the values with team members who do not demonstrate themUndertake relevant CPD to maintain technical knowledge and remain up to date with any industry and economic changesMake suggestions for updating and improving the department and the firm’s systems and processesThe above list of duties is not exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the rolePerson SpecificationCTA preferred or ACA/ACCA/CA with demonstratable experience.Relevant experience in a similar level role gained within practiceHigh level of numeracyMethodical approach to workExtremely organisedThe ability to make decisions, solve problems and take appropriate actionAbility to establish rapport, build trust and demonstrate credibilityAbility to prioritise workload to achieve client deadlinesHave excellent written and verbal communication skills and be confident speaking to clients face to face, over the telephone and by emailMust have excellent IT skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft office productsThe ability to check work for accuracy and have good attention to detailBe flexible and proactive in managing multiple prioritiesExperience of managing a teamKnowledge of specialist tax areas including but not limited to trusts, IHT, corporation tax, residency, corporate reorganisationsKnowledge of tax systems, including CCH and IrisDeciding and Initiating Action – makes prompt and clear decisions, takes initiative to generate activity, and works under own directionLeading and Supervising – provides clear direction and sets appropriate standards of behaviour, motivates, and empowers others and delegates work appropriately and fairlyRelating and Networking – develops and maintains good relationships, relates well to people at all levels and manages conflictPersuading and Influencing – gains clear agreement and commitment from others by persuading, convincing and negotiatingCreating and Innovating – produces new ideas and a range of solutions to problems, seeks opportunities for organisational improvement and devises effective change initiativesDelivering Results and Meeting Client Expectations – focuses on client needs and satisfaction, sets high standards for quality and works in a systematic and methodical wayFacing Challenges – works productively to meet competing priorities, maintains positive outlook at work and implements personal improvements as requiredEntrepreneurial and Commercial Thinking – keeps up to date with market trends, identifies business opportunities and demonstrates financial awareness
