About Aston University Mathematics School (AUMS)
Aston University Mathematics School (AUMS) is a specialist sixth form dedicated to transforming the lives of talented young mathematicians and scientists across the West Midlands. It is part of the Aston University STEM Education Academy Trust (AUSEAT), a multi‑academy trust sponsored by Aston University, and opened only in September 2025. Situated on Aston University’s campus in central Birmingham, AUMS offers a stimulating environment where students achieve at the highest level.

Who we are looking for
We are looking for an outstanding A‑level Physics teacher with exemplary subject knowledge and a passion for working with high‑achieving students, ready to lead a small but highly capable department. You will bring expertise in stretching students beyond the standard curriculum and preparing them for university admissions, including competitive Oxbridge and Russell Group applications. Your teaching must be of the highest standard, and subject knowledge will be rigorously assessed at interview. You will also build partnerships with universities, research institutions and industry professionals to provide students with meaningful enrichment opportunities and real‑world mathematical engagement.

Specialist sixth form: Teach exclusively A‑level in a school designed for gifted and talented young scientists and mathematicians.
High academic challenge: Work with students who are passionate and ready to engage with ideas at undergraduate level.
Autonomy and influence: Play a key role in shaping the mathematics curriculum and establishing AUMS as a centre of excellence.
University and industry links: Develop partnerships that enrich students’ learning and provide insight into the wider scientific landscape.
Collaborative environment: Work alongside exceptional colleagues in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Chemistry and Economics to create an integrated STEM education.
