Overview Development Planning Technical Director/Director (Development) โ€“ Leeds, England, United Kingdom. The role sits within WSP's Development team, providing transport planning, civil infrastructure and urban design support on development and masterplanning projects. The appointment focuses on client-facing activities, business growth, market strategy and technical leadership to support growth in Leeds, nationally, and broader diversification of the team. What you will do Identify and pursue new business opportunities, leveraging a network of clients and colleagues to win work and increase market share for the Development team. Collaborate with the Regional Director for Development South and local office lead to set growth targets and plans. Build trusted relationships with public/private sector clients and stakeholders, including local planning authorities. Provide technical advice to clients and support them through the planning and design process. Demonstrate WSP's core values in behaviours and attitudes. Coordinate with Development team colleagues to share market intelligence, best practice and innovation. Lead and support bids, including reviewing submissions and delivering commercial and technical value. Act as Project Director for major projects and strategically important commissions. Support health, safety, environment and quality (SHEQ) and corporate responsibility across the team. The Development Team is a well-established and high-performing part of the Planning and Development discipline, comprising over 800 colleagues focused on delivering projects from land acquisition through planning support and design to construction handover. We aim to be recognised as the best Development team in the industry, with a structure focused on Technical Excellence, People, Clients and Operational Excellence. We help our clients promote sustainable development from pre-feasibility to planning consent and develop multidisciplinary design from concept through detailed design and construction.
