Job Description
*Job Summary*The Senior Fire Alarm Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, commissioning, maintenance, and fault diagnosis of fire detection and alarm systems across commercial, industrial, and residential sites. This role provides technical leadership, ensures compliance with relevant fire safety standards and legislation, and supports junior engineers while liaising with clients, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction.
* You will receive a Competitive Salary £35,000 to £45,000 PA basic pay (dependent on experience)

*Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical & Operational*
* Design and review fire alarm systems in accordance with relevant standards (e.g. BS 5839, NFPA 72, EN 54, or local codes).
* Install, commission, test, and certify fire detection and alarm systems.
* Diagnose and resolve complex system faults and performance issues.
* Carry out system upgrades, modifications, and expansions.
* Produce accurate documentation including drawings, test results, commissioning certificates, and reports.
*Leadership & Supervision*
* Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and technicians.
* Lead site works and ensure quality, safety, and timelines are met.
* Review and sign off works completed by other engineers where appropriate.
*Compliance & Safety*
* Ensure all work complies with fire safety legislation, building regulations, and company procedures.
* Conduct risk assessments and method statements (RAMS).
* Liaise with fire authorities, consultants, and inspectors during audits and approvals.
*Client & Project Support*
* Act as a technical point of contact for clients and project managers.
* Support project planning, cost estimation, and system specification.
* Attend site meetings and provide technical input during project delivery.
*Qualifications & Experience*
* Proven experience as a Fire Alarm Engineer, with senior or lead-level responsibility.
* Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems (addressable and conventional) and manufacturers’ panels.
* Relevant technical qualification in electrical, electronic, or fire systems engineering.
* Industry certifications (e.g. FIA, BAFE, or equivalent, depending on region).
* Valid electrical or fire safety certifications as required by local regulations.
*Skills & Competencies*
* Advanced fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
* Strong understanding of fire safety standards and legislation.
* Leadership and mentoring ability.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple sites or projects.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
*Additional Requirements*
* Full driving licence (where site travel is required).
* Willingness to participate in on-call or emergency response rotas if applicable.
* Ability to pass background or security checks where required.
* Minimum of 5 years experience
