About the RoleHays Education is recruiting English Teachers (QTS) to work on a supply basis across a range of secondary schools in Cheltenham and Gloucester and the surrounding areas. We are looking for passionate English specialists who can deliver high-quality lessons in English Language and Literature to KS3 and KS4 students.We have regular opportunities for: Day-to-day cover Short-term blocks Long-term English roles (now, Easter, and September)Whether you're looking to start immediately, planning ahead for next term, or exploring options for the next academic year, we'd love to support your next step. What you'll be doingAs an English Supply Teacher, you will: Deliver pre-planned English lessons across KS3-KS4 Support progress in reading, writing, speaking and analytical skills Maintain high expectations for behaviour and engagement Follow departmental schemes of work and school policies Adapt confidently to a range of schools and class groups Long-term placements may include planning, marking, assessments and involvement in the wider English department.What you'll need to succeed Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature Experience teaching in a UK secondary school (ECT placements welcome) Excellent classroom and behaviour management The right to work in the UK An Enhanced DBS, or willingness to obtain one A flexible, positive approach to supply teaching ECTs are encouraged to apply Why work with Hays?
