Job Description
My client is an ambitious, purpose‑driven business with a clear vision and a growing footprint across the UK. As they continue to scale, we are looking to recruit an exceptional Finance Director to lead the financial strategy, governance, and performance — and help shape the future direction of the organisation.
The Opportunity
As Finance Director, you will be the Company’s lead financial officer, responsible for ensuring robust financial systems, governance, and reporting across the group. You’ll be a key member of the leadership team — challenging the way the business works, driving commercial insight, and supporting the growth of new business streams.
If you are motivated by making an impact, working autonomously, and bringing commercial thinking to a fast‑evolving organisation, this role offers the opportunity to play a major role in continued success.
What You’ll Lead
Oversee all financial operations, governance, and audit processes across the Group
Ensure compliance with relevant accountancy standards, tax requirements, and statutory obligations
Lead the annual business planning cycle and support strategic decision‑making across the organisation
Deliver accurate, insightful financial reporting, modelling, and KPIs to enable strong performance and growth
Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow planning, including engagement with lenders and investors
Provide financial modelling for M&A and investment opportunities
Act as Company Secretary for the business and subsidiaries
Lead and develop the finance team as the function evolves
Champion a zero‑harm, “right first time” culture throughout the organisation
What You Bring
We’re looking for a highly credible, commercially minded finance leader who can operate with pace, influence, and integrity:
Degree‑educated with at least 5 years’ experience in finance leadership in a business of similar scale or growth stage
Strong commercial acumen and hands‑on approach
Experience with financial modelling for projects and business cases
Comfortable engaging with banks, lenders, lawyers, and senior stakeholders
Ideally experienced in utilities or renewable energy (helpful, not essential)
Proven ability to influence, develop, and inspire a small finance team
Resilient, persistent, and able to drive improvements with limited support
Experience of working within a small but complex business is essential along with proven stakeholder management experience and extensive project development and delivery is essential.
