We are proud to be the sole provider of Wheelchair services for the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre at Stanford Hall. We have an exciting, opportunity for a full time Wheelchair Technician to join our small team at this unique facility. The role As Wheelchair Technician , you will have direct contact with serving military personnel service users who are attending DMRC for rehabilitation. You will undertake technical modifications to wheelchairs and accessories and provide technical, biomechanical and safety related input to support the wider interdisciplinary wheelchair service team. Key duties: Maintaining a fleet of Short-Term Loan (STL) Stock Wheelchairs, pressure relieving cushions and accessories based at DMRC Stanford Hall. Maintaining an electronic database to track the status of the stock. Managing Work Order procedures involving BEST – Soft Options platform. Ensuring the STL items are appropriately serviced and checked prior to being re-issued to service users. Clinical cleaning of wheelchairs and cushion covers. Providing localised, low-level reconditioning, repair and replacement of equipment as required. Carrying out planned service maintenance plans as agreed with the Senior Rehabilitation Engineer and Operational Lead using judgment and investigation skills to decide on appropriate action. Analysing and diagnosing faults, repairing wheelchairs, and their controls, such as switches to control a powered wheelchair Modifying existing equipment to help the service user sit or move more comfortably. Delivering and setting up new equipment when necessary and demonstrating to service users / carers /clinicians how to use the wheelchair and place accessories. What are we looking for? As Wheelchair Technician , you will have the following. Key skills Good standard of numeracy and literacy. Good understanding of hand tools. Full UK Driving Licence. Good communication skills. Practically minded and methodical Good problem-solving skills Ability to demonstrate great attention to detail Focused and flexible approach Ability to work to varying deadlines and timescales A reliable team player Excellent communication skills Ability to maintain high standards when working to changing deadlines and timescales What can we offer you?
