Our client is a growing, multi-site company, seeking to appoint a Group Accountant into a newly created role within an expanding finance function. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified or qualified-by-experience accountant to step into a broad, hands-on position with genuine influence. Working closely with the Group Financial Controller, you will play a key role in strengthening financial control, improving reporting quality and supporting the continued growth of the business across the UK and Ireland. The role combines strong technical accounting with practical commercial insight and offers real scope to shape processes as the finance function continues to evolve. The Role Based at the Groups Ballymena office, you will be a core member of the finance team, responsible for a wide range of accounting, reporting and control activities, including: Preparation of monthly management accounts, including consolidation across UK and Irish entities, ensuring consistent accounting treatment, accurate intercompany reconciliations and eliminations Maintaining robust financial controls and ensuring compliance with group accounting policies and relevant accounting standards (IFRS and FRS102, as applicable) Ownership of key accounting areas including the fixed asset register, IFRS 16 lease accounting, prepayments and accruals, journals, balance sheet reconciliations, and detailed variance and trend analysis Preparation and submission of regulatory and statutory requirements, including VAT returns and other financial surveys Playing a significant role in the preparation of year-end statutory financial statements and acting as a key point of contact during the external audit process Documenting financial processes and internal controls, ensuring they follow best practice and are continually reviewed and improved Assisting with budgets, forecasts and longer-term financial planning Supporting the Group Financial Controller with ad-hoc analysis, projects and finance initiatives as required This is a varied role offering strong exposure across technical accounting, controls and reporting, ideal for someone who enjoys getting into the detail while also understanding the wider commercial picture. The Person You will be an experienced finance professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality financial information. You are likely to bring: A professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or be qualified by experience, with a strong technical grounding Proven experience preparing monthly management accounts to tight deadlines, including consolidation (group experience beneficial but not essential) A solid understanding of UK and ROI tax regimes, including VAT, PAYE, RCT and Corporation Tax Strong working knowledge of FRS102 and IFRS, with particular experience of IFRS 16 Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with finance systems and reporting tools Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy, compliance and well-controlled processes A proactive, collaborative approach, with the ability to work independently, prioritise effectively and meet demanding month-end deadlines This role offers the chance to join a growing finance function at an important stage of its development, with real scope to influence how processes, controls and reporting are shaped going forward.
