Head of Communication and Journals, The Institution Of Structural Engineers
Location: Farringdon, London
Do you have PR expertise, editorial judgement and the ability to manage communications across a range of digital platforms, media streams, member communications and publications?
We are looking for a leader who can bring a strategic focus to our communications and publications. The IStructE is a charity and the professional body for structural engineers with a global membership responsible for the worldโs iconic structures. We are passionate about safety, sustainability and inclusion, and we work hard to help those with talent, irrespective of background, find and develop within the profession.
The Role
This role provides strategic leadership and practical delivery across all aspects of the Institutionโs communications and publications. The role will be responsible for developing and delivering clear, engaging and consistent communications that promote the Institutionโs mission, values and priorities to a wide range of audiences. The role will ensure the Institution maintains a strong and credible voice within the built environment sector. This includes oversight of The Structural Engineer magazine and the Structures research journal , ensuring both reflect institutional priorities and continue to inform and engage members and stakeholders.
Qualifications
Strong understanding and in-depth knowledge of current trends in communications, and the interface between media, PR, politics, and society
Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the print and online magazine landscape
Experience and an interest in the Built Environment would be advantageous

We are based on the edge of the city. Our office is bright, modern and open plan. We are an inclusive and friendly workforce. We operate a hybrid working model, and this role requires a minimum of two to three daysโ attendance in the office.
