Position Summary
This role plays a crucial part within the Legal function’s Government Relations family, focusing on fostering strategic relationships with government entities to advance the organization’s objectives and ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements. The VP aligns with BNY Mellon’s strategic pillars to drive growth, innovation, and uphold integrity and collaboration.
Primary Responsibilities
Develop and implement strategies for engaging with government officials and regulatory bodies.
Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments, assessing their impact on BNY Mellon and providing strategic advice to senior leadership.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders in government and industry to promote BNY Mellon’s interests and influence policy outcomes.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure alignment of government‑relations strategies with organizational goals and objectives.
Prepare and present reports and briefings for senior executives, highlighting key government‑relations initiatives and progress.
Represent BNY Mellon in industry forums and government meetings, communicating the organization’s position and advocating for favorable outcomes.
Education / Qualifications
Minimum Bachelors degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Advanced degree (e.g., JD, Master’s) preferred.
Experience
Typically 5–10 years of experience in government relations, legal affairs, or a related field.
Skills
Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain relationships with government officials and stakeholders.
Proven ability to influence policy outcomes and advocate effectively for organizational interests.
