The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and driven Grid Connections Manager to join a growing and ambitious team.


This is a key leadership role responsible for identifying, assessing, and securing grid capacity, as well as managing connection milestones in line with project and regulatory requirements. You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s grid strategy, enabling the successful delivery of a diverse UK renewable energy pipeline.


You’ll bring a deep technical understanding of the UK electricity grid, strong analytical capability, a network within the grid and connections sector, and a passion for enabling the clean energy transition.


Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, analyse, and secure grid connection opportunities across transmission and distribution networks.
  • Work with project developers to integrate grid strategy within site selection, feasibility, and project origination.
  • Lead ENA applications, review and negotiate connection offers, and manage agreements with DNOs, iDNOs, and National Grid ESO.
  • Oversee grid studies including capacity analysis, constraint evaluation, and network reinforcement assessments.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with network operators, NGET, DNOs, iDNOs, consultants, and other key industry stakeholders.
  • Track policy developments (Ofgem, National Grid ESO) and advise the team on emerging opportunities and risks.
  • Support projects across Solar PV, Onshore Wind, Battery Energy Storage (BESS), and Grid Stability assets.
  • Use GIS, grid analytics tools, and network data to identify and prioritise new opportunities.
  • Apply supply chain knowledge and innovation to optimise costs and connection timescales.
  • Ensure compliance with grid codes and connection agreement obligations.


About You

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems or a related discipline.
  • 5-8+ years’ experience in grid connections within the UK electricity sector.
  • Proven track record in securing and managing grid connections for renewable or energy storage projects.
  • Strong understanding of grid planning, capacity assessments, and network connection processes.
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and communication skills.
  • Commercial awareness with a clear understanding of how grid costs and timelines impact project viability.
  • Collaborative and proactive approach, able to work across development, construction, and asset management teams.
  • Passionate about renewables, technology, and driving innovation within the energy transition.
