Principal Consultant – Forest Products The Role This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate eager to help leading companies and market participants by delivering custom consulting engagements that enable our clients to thrive in volatile commodity markets. The Principal Consultant will focus on leading and delivering custom consulting and research projects that span the forest products industry, including timber, wood products, pulp, paper, packaging and tissue. You will lead and deliver projects such as tailored market overviews, outlooks, financing and financial due‑diligence assessments, feedstock analysis, industry cost modelling, supply‑chain mapping and other bespoke engagements. Responsibilities Win, execute and project‑manage a range of forest‑products market consulting projects. Lead delivery of consultancy projects with a strong focus on meeting client requirements, expectations and deadlines, using modelling, data collection and research interview techniques. Develop and deliver compelling, high‑quality deliverables that are robust, accurate and well‑researched. Customize house forecasts and cost models, including supply, demand, capacity, cost and other critical metrics. Partner with sales teams to develop and support strategies that drive the commercial success of the consulting practice. Develop and build existing customer relationships and acquire new consultancy customers, including repeat business. Create customized pitch decks and proposals, utilizing strong technical knowledge of commodity markets. Participate in events and sales/marketing activities with a focus on existing and potential client business opportunities. Utilize the professional network to source independent contractors to support engagement delivery. Knowledge, experience and skills: 10+ years of consulting experience in forest‑products commodities research and analysis, including timber, pulp, paper, packaging and/or timber. Experience managing, conducting and researching commodity market studies independently and with distributed teams. Strong desire and ability for business development. Experience in complex solution selling and project execution/management for single‑client consultancy services. Experience in project and client relationship management across varying customer profiles. Strong commercial focus with experience working with C‑level stakeholders. Fluent in English; a second language preferred. Effective communication in person, online and in writing (Word and PowerPoint). Flexibility and willingness to travel when required. Established client and industry contact network desirable. Self‑starter with a hunter mentality and strong personal drive, thriving in a multitasking environment. Accountable and performance‑driven.
