Hemel Hempstead, England, United Kingdom Head of Tax JSS Search is hiring for a Head of Tax for a leading leisure business based in Hertfordshire. Position is a newly-created permanent role paying circa £100k‑£120k plus bonus benefits package, and supporting flexible/hybrid working. Base pay range £100k‑£120k plus bonus benefits package. Responsibilities Develop and implement a comprehensive tax strategy aligned with business objectives. Lead ongoing tax planning initiatives and work on optimisation following a recent group restructure. Serve as a strategic partner to the business, providing commercial and pragmatic tax advice. Address tax-related queries and deliver commercially focused, practical tax guidance. Oversee tax compliance and reporting obligations – largely outsourced currently. Build and develop the in-house tax function – 1 direct report initially, remit to grow the team as you see fit. Champion best-practice tax risk management and drive continuous improvements in tax processes and controls. Qualifications The company is looking for a qualified individual (ACA / CTA / ACCA / ICAS etc) with significant UK tax experience, ideally across both direct and indirect tax. You will be commercially minded, a strong communicator and excellent at managing different stakeholders, but also willing to be hands‑on when needed.
