Principal Software Engineer - Portfolio Management System

We are looking for a Principal Developer to lead the delivery of a greenfield front office portfolio management platform for a fixed income fund manager in London. This role combines deep hands on engineering with senior stakeholder ownership and the mandate to grow a local engineering capability over time. You will work directly with portfolio managers and fixed income stakeholders, owning requirements from early discovery through to production delivery, while remaining closely involved in the technical build of the platform. What You’ll Be Doing: Act as the senior technical partner to front-office stakeholders, translating investment and trading workflows into scalable systems Lead technical design and delivery for a greenfield front‑office platform Own requirements end‑to‑end, from discovery and refinement through to implementation Remain hands‑on across the stack while setting engineering standards and direction Shape architecture, tooling, and development practices for a modern portfolio management system Support the growth and mentoring of a London‑based engineering team Required Experience: Strong front‑office experience within capital markets, with fixed income domain expertise Proven ability to manage senior stakeholders and operate as a trusted technical authority Experience delivering cloud‑based, production‑grade systems from the ground up Technology Environment: Design System & UI: Google Material Design, Material UI (MUI), React Material Table APIs & Services: Node.js, GraphQL, REST APIs, WebSockets (Socket.IO or similar) Data & Caching: PostgreSQL, Redis, Neo4j / Neptune Graph Database Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS (ECS, S3, ElastiCache, EventBridge, SQS/SNS) Nice to Have: AI‑enabled development experience (Bedrock, Claude, LlamaIndex, LangChain) Why Join This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of a front‑office, greenfield platform, work directly with investment decision‑makers, and help build a long‑term engineering presence in London all with the autonomy expected at Principal level. #J-18808-Ljbffr
