Head of Data Science

A fast‑scaling fintech is looking for a Head of Data Science to lead and develop a multi‑team function at the centre of lending, risk and commercial decision‑making. This role shapes how data science operates, influences strategy and drives measurable business impact. Our client is a rapidly growing fintech providing flexible, technology‑driven finance to SMEs. With billions already deployed to over 100,000 businesses, the company is expanding its reach and doubling down on intelligent, data‑led decision‑making. Data science powers real‑time lending models, forecasting and commercial insights. The work sits directly in production and integrates closely with engineering, product and operations. The Role Define the data science strategy and ensure alignment with commercial goals. Lead multiple teams, overseeing planning, prioritisation and delivery. Own the lifecycle of production models — deployment, monitoring, upgrades and retirement. Maintain consistent analytical standards across methodology, communication and reasoning. Partner with product, engineering, risk and operations to scope and resource projects. Represent data science in senior discussions, explaining assumptions and shaping decisions. Requirements Experience leading large multi‑team data science functions. Strong understanding of how modelling drives business decisions. Hands‑on experience managing production models. Ability to evaluate analytical work for conceptual soundness and commercial value. Background in probability, statistics or a related quantitative field.
