We are a university teaching hospital Trust providing community and hospital services across the Morecambe Bay area – covering one thousand square miles in South Cumbria and North Lancashire. We are seeking an Executive Chief Finance Officer to play a lead role in ensuring the delivery of the Trust's strategic priorities and that we achieve our goals – to provide the highest possible standards of compassionate care, whilst ensuring the very best patient and colleague experience.
Your experience and innovative thinking, combined with experience of working successfully across an integrated care system and with delivery partners, will be essential as we work across the Bay, Lancashire and South Cumbria to improve health equity, services and outcomes for our communities in line with the Government’s 10‑year health plan.
Responsibilities
Serve as a visible, inclusive and collaborative executive leader, ensuring delivery of the Trust's vision to provide the highest possible standards of compassionate care and the best patient and colleague experience.
Act as a member of the Unitary Board, holding executive director status and portfolio holder responsibilities, working with the Board to deliver the Trust strategy.
Assume board‑level responsibility for the overall delivery of financial management, financial planning, financial strategy and procurement support to the Trust.
Design and steward credible financial policies, procedures, practices and reporting regimes through to the Board of Directors.
Build collegiate and solution‑focused relationships with all system partners, especially chief finance officers, to ensure services and results benefit all communities served.
Play a critical part of the Trust's transformation to a Place‑Based organisation.
Oversee financial and procurement systems, policies and processes through the One LSC partnership.

Working for our Organisation
We operate from three main hospitals – Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal – as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI provide a range of general hospital services, including full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various consultant‑led services.
WGH provides general hospital services together with an Urgent Treatment Centre for non‑life‑threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals offer planned care, including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. Local outreach services and diagnostics are also available from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
