Job Title: Principal Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant Ref. No.: CJD0301C26 Location: London Salary: £58,000 – £63,000 This is a rare opportunity to join my client, a growing, highly-regarded Multidisciplinary Consultancy known for lending their expertise to a diverse array of projects across the planning, environmental, and engineering landscapes. They are currently searching for a talented, enthusiastic Principal Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant who is committed to enhancing Business Development (BD) by proactively seeking to win exciting new projects across the Flood Risk and Drainage Sectors. The role will be based in the fascinating, multicultural Capital City of London. Benefits for the role of Principal Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant include (but are not limited to): Competitive salary package Generous annual leave Flexible/hybrid working options An inclusive working environment that champions both independent and collaborative thinking Access to a range of interesting projects across the local region and beyond Training and career progression opportunities Opportunities to proactively shape the development and future direction of the company Responsibilities for the role of Principal Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant include: Proactively winning new projects for the company, thereby furthering Business Development (BD) activities Managing a team of technical experts and design professionals Conducting Flood Risk Assessments (FRA) and producing Drainage Strategies, including Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) Completing Hydrological and Flood Risk Chapters of Environmental Impact Assessments, Nutrient Neutrality, and ESG factors Overseeing site visits, analysing/interpreting relevant data, and producing technical documents (such as reports, etc.) Using the appropriate software packages (including MicroDrainage, Causeway Flow, etc.) to inform and produce designs and other technical documents Working with AutoCAD to produce conceptual drainage system designs Generating flood risk maps within QGIS (or similar software packages) Establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships with clients and other stakeholders Required skills and experience for the role of Principal Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant include: A UK Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Civil Engineering or a cognate discipline Considerable experience of winning projects and contributing to Business Development (BD) Extensive experience of working in a flood risk and drainage role, within a UK-based consultancy setting Experience of authoring Flood Risk Assessments and producing Drainage Strategies Demonstrable experience of managing people and projects Proficient in the use of a variety of relevant software systems, including MicroDrainage, InfoDrainage, Causeway Flow, TUFLOW, and more Excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD and GIS software systems Good understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite Outstanding communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills Experience of managing relations with clients and other stakeholders Dedication to your own Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Possess a full, valid UK Driving Licence Desirable skills and experience for the role of Principal Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant include: Chartered Status, or actively working to attain this An understanding of relevant planning policy, procedures, and regulatory processes within the industry Prior experience of producing technical reports for flood modelling studies Good knowledge of hydraulic modelling for rivers, surface water, and/or sewer drainage If you are interested in the role of Principal Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant, please do not hesitate to contact Caroline Davis at Penguin Recruitment.
