Head of Assets and Investment – Social Housing – Full Time
Pay: £500.00–£700.00 per day. Permanent contract also available.
(The salary listed reflects a contract day rate.)
We are recruiting for an experienced Head of Assets and Investment to join a leading Social Housing organisation within a Property Services Directorate. This role holds strategic responsibility across asset management, planned investment, decarbonisation and compliance, offering genuine influence at senior leadership level.
Working 36.25 hours per week, the Head of Assets and Investment will report to the Director of Property Services and lead the Asset and Investment function to ensure homes remain safe, compliant, financially sustainable and fit for the future.

The Role
As Head of Assets and Investment, you will lead the strategic asset management function, ensuring a robust, data led understanding of housing stock and asset performance. You will be responsible for delivering the Asset Management Strategy and Investment Programme, ensuring assets are compliant, financially viable and maintained to a high standard while supporting long term sustainability objectives.
The role will champion an evidence based approach to asset performance, using accurate asset data to drive compliance programmes, planned works and long term investment planning. You will also lead environmental sustainability and decarbonisation initiatives and oversee surveying as a shared service across the Property Services Directorate, ensuring stock condition intelligence, compliance and investment activity are aligned and customer focused.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the strategic asset management service, including the governance and maintenance of asset data that drives compliance and planned works
Maintain a data driven understanding of asset performance, identifying risk, underperformance and investment need
Lead the development and delivery of decarbonisation and environmental sustainability programmes
Scope, prioritise and deliver planned investment programmes based on stock condition and lifecycle data
Oversee property surveying as a shared service across the Property Services Directorate
Align asset data, compliance and investment planning to support regulatory and strategic requirements
Utilise asset intelligence to inform options appraisals, long term asset strategy and performance improvement
Provide reporting and assurance to senior leadership on asset performance, investment need and compliance risk
Drive continuous improvement and a high performance, evidence led asset function
Work collaboratively across directorates to deliver coordinated asset, sustainability and investment priorities
About you
Significant experience leading strategic asset management or planned investment within Social Housing
Strong knowledge of housing compliance, building safety and regulatory duties
Experience managing complex budgets and capital investment programmes
Experience in contractor procurement and contract management
Strong understanding of asset data, lifecycle planning and performance analysis
Proven leader with experience developing high performing teams
Relevant qualification in asset management or building related discipline (MRICS, MCIOB or equivalent)
Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle
