Job Description
Overview
This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for a commercially-minded Finance Director to join a disruptor in the FMCG space. We are a fast-growing, Private Equity‑backed brand seeking a strategic partner for our Founders and the Board.
As we scale our footprint across new channels and territories, you will be the architect of our financial infrastructure. You will move beyond the "numbers" to influence our commercial strategy, optimise our supply chain economics, and ensure we have the capital and insights necessary to sustain triple‑digit growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership & Growth
Act as a close advisor to the Founders, translating ambitious brand visions into robust, funded financial plans.
Partner with Sales and Marketing teams to analyse ROI on trade spend, promotions, and new product launches (NPD).
Support future funding rounds or exit preparation, acting as the primary point of contact for PE investors and external stakeholders.
2. Financial Operations & Compliance
Lead and professionalise the finance function, implementing scalable processes and robust internal controls.
Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements, tax regulations, and audit standards.
Select and optimise financial systems/ERP to support real‑time data visibility.
3. Reporting, Forecasting & Performance Tracking
Own the integrated P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow forecasting models.
Develop high‑quality Board packs that provide the "story behind the numbers," highlighting risks and opportunities.
Implement rigorous KPI tracking (e.g., Gross Margin, Customer Acquisition Cost, LTV, and Inventory Turns).
4. Cash Flow & Risk Management
Maintain a "hands‑on" grip on cash flow, managing working capital cycles and inventory financing to support rapid scaling.
Identify and mitigate commercial risks, from supply chain volatility to currency exposure.
Qualifications
Proven Finance Leadership: Senior finance role (FD or Head of Finance) within a high‑growth environment, ideally within a PE‑backed framework.
FMCG/Retail DNA: Understanding of the "bricks and clicks" world—from manufacturing lead times and logistics costs to retailer margins and D2C metrics.
Entrepreneurial Mindset: Comfortable with ambiguity and able to switch between "hands‑on" and board‑level strategy.
Communication Excellence: Ability to simplify complex financial data for non‑finance stakeholders and perform confidently in high‑pressure Board meetings.
Qualified Professional: ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification is required.
The Reward
Influence: A seat at the top table during a critical phase of the company’s lifecycle.
Equity / Bonus: Competitive package including performance‑related incentives and potential for equity participation (Exit‑linked).
Culture: A fast‑paced, high‑energy environment where results are celebrated and bureaucracy is kept to a minimum.
