We have a brand-new opportunity for a Principal Sustainability Energy Consultant to join our Sustainability team based in our Bristol or Cardiff office. It is an exciting time to join our team. You will be working alongside a range of specialist engineers and consultants, you will join a collaborative, knowledgeable, highly engaged team who love what they do, and you will be offered a supportive, flexible, and high performing work culture. In this key and varied role, you can expect to: Responsibilities Take ownership and deliver medium to large scale projects. Support senior team members on large scale projects and take ownership of energy workstreams. Lead workshops with the client and design team and communicate information in a clear and concise manner. Effectively delegate, manage, and review work undertaken by others. Support the training and development of junior members of the team on energy workstreams (e.g. Part L, Overheating, CIBSE TM54, NABERS, etc.). Undertake a range of modelling and analysis, which may include but is not limited to building performance simulation, operational energy use, energy generation and overheating. Lead the development of energy strategies to meet client aspirations as well as respond to planning policy requirements. Support the drive towards realising net zero whole life carbon in our projects. Work with other members of the Sustainability Group on research and development initiatives to stay at the cutting edge of knowledge in our industry. Engage directly with the industry through research and development studies, authoring industry guidance, and have the opportunity for direct influence on the industry. Qualifications & Experience Energy strategies. Building Regulations Part L assessments. NABERS UK modelling. Experience leading or supporting a NABERS IDR for certification. In‑use energy modelling (e.g. CIBSE TM54). Dynamic modelling for thermal comfort assessments and overheating risk. Experience working within sustainability consultancy, looking for a new challenge within a practice at the very forefront of our field. Qualified and recognised in industry, preferably with Chartered status or working towards it. Expertise and passion for creating sustainable solutions. Confidence in leading sustainability workshops with design teams. Relish being part of a dynamic team within a progressive and well‑respected firm. Good communication skills and enthusiasm for working within a team environment. Demonstrable experience working with clients, contractors, and architects in a design‑oriented/consultant role. Excellent organisational and planning skills to effectively manage timescales and deadlines for multiple projects at one time. Self‑awareness, an open mind, and a spirit of generosity. Experience supporting others to develop knowledge, skills, and confidence.
