We are now seeking a highly motivated & enthusiastic Head of Mammography to join our dynamic Breast Imaging team & lead the delivery of high-quality Breast Imaging services across St Bartholomew's, Whipps Cross & Newham Hospitals.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape & influence a large, complex, & forward-thinking service supporting both symptomatic & screening breast pathways across North East London.
Key working relationships will include the Head of Diagnostics, Breast Clinical Lead, General Manager, Consultant Mammographers, Breast Radiologists, senior radiographic teams, physicists, nursing teams & other multidisciplinary colleagues.
The post-holder will be responsible for the strategic, operational & governance leadership of Breast Imaging across the network, ensuring safe, effective, patient-centred services. You will provide visible leadership, overseeing service performance, workforce development, compliance, quality improvement & the delivery of innovative modernised pathways. You will also support & supervise the training and development of Mammographers, Assistant Practitioners, students & wider staff working within Breast Imaging.

Main duties of the job
You will play a key role in driving high-quality patient care and experience through proactive service improvement, strong collaborative working, clear communication and responsive problem-solving. The successful applicant will also represent Breast Imaging at Trust, divisional and external committees, and contribute to research, audit and continuous service development.
The Breast Imaging network provides a comprehensive diagnostic service and supports the screening programme across North East London. The post-holder will demonstrate a breadth of specialist knowledge in Breast Imaging and ensure safe, efficient and effective operational delivery. They will drive service quality, governance, performance and workforce development, acting as a senior leader within the division and representing the service at Trust-wide level.
They will oversee training, supervision and performance monitoring for all relevant imaging staff, supporting excellence in education, staff progression and patient care. The post-holder will be instrumental in achieving financial, quality and workforce targets, collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure the service continues to modernise and remain responsive to patient need.

Person Specification
Experience
Extensive experience in Breast Imaging - Mammography
Day to day operational management experience in Breast Imaging and experience in delivering operational performance
Standards and maintaining KPI's
Knowledge of current Breast Imaging networking technology
Knowledge of Quality Assurance / Clinical Governance initiatives
Experience of business planning, preparing capital bids, and bids for resources to extend the Imaging service when required
A track record of implementing and managing change. To have been involved in bringing about change to a service/ department
Experience in the management and supervision of staff, including HR issues.
Experience of managing a budget
Experience of postgraduate teaching
To have experience of setting up a new service.
Skills
Excellent communication skills and presentation skills.
Ability to initiate and implement change
Able to prioritise, organise and delegate.
Ability to lead and manage staff in a large and complex Breast Imaging department over several sites
To have effective problem-solving skills
Knowledge
Understanding of national waiting time principles
Evidence of continuing professional development
Working knowledge of responsibilities relating to ionising radiation regulations IRMER IRR CQC
Knowledge of the role and responsibilities of Radiation Protection Supervisors
Qualifications
BSc Diagnostic Radiography/Post-grad Mammography or equivalent
Registration with HCPC
Evidence of ongoing, relevant post graduate education
Recognised management qualification (to master's level or equivalent experience)
