Head of Market Data Technology | Asset Management | Up to £150,000 + Bonus + Benefits | Hybrid Head of Market Data Technology is required to join a global asset manager headquartered in London and lead the next phase of their data transformation journey as they expand their trading desks. This is a strategic yet hands‑on leadership role, suited to someone who excels at the intersection of understanding market data from a commercial perspective, technology architecture, assessing market data providers and emerging AI capabilities. As Head of Market Data Technology, this is a senior leadership role with end‑to‑end ownership of the firm’s market data strategy, spanning engineering, technology architecture, commercial management, and vendor governance. This role suits someone with strong knowledge and experience in market data, technical credibility, market data architecture & is active in people leadership and functional ownership, taking ownership of decisions when it comes to choices of market data, the commercials around market data providers, and being accountable for decisions which are then presented back to the business. The role of Head of Market Data Technology: As Head of Market Data Technology, you will lead a multi-disciplinary market data function, with responsibility for both the technical platform (currently 3-4 engineers + additional hires) and the commercial and contractual landscape (4 market data commercial analysts). Work alongside the Head of Development to shape data architecture, modernise data tooling, and drive best‑practice design. Paying up to £150,000 + bonus + benefits Victoria, 3 days a week in the office Key responsibilities include: Partnering closely with senior stakeholders across all the different product, trading & investment offerings to ensure the data strategy supports business objectives. Leading and developing a team of market data engineers, responsible for: Data ingestion, distribution, normalisation and quality Real‑time and reference data platforms Scalable, low‑latency data solutions across asset classes Managing a commercial market data team of four, covering: Exchange and vendor licensing Contract renewals and negotiations Usage reviews, audits and entitlement management Acting as the senior owner of market data across the business: Setting strategy, standards and operating model Balancing front‑office demands with cost, risk and compliance Owning key vendor relationships (e.g. Bloomberg, Refinitiv, exchanges and specialist data providers) Partnering closely with Trading, Technology, Compliance, Legal and Procurement Driving continuous improvement in tooling, governance and cost efficiency Background in market data engineering or a highly technical market data role Proven progression into management / head‑of‑function leadership Experience leading engineering teams in a trading or investment environment Strong understanding of: Exchange data and licensing models Hands‑on experience with vendor management, licensing and contract negotiations Credibility with front‑office stakeholders in a fast‑paced trading environment If you are interested in this Head of Market Data Technology role, please do reply with your latest CV or send to ross@virtuetech.io #J-18808-Ljbffr
