A leading player in the life insurance industry is seeking a qualified and experienced individual for the role of Actuarial Risk Advisory Director within its Supervisory Services Department. Reporting to the Deputy Director, this highly visible and influential role involves providing essential support for the oversight of key regulatory processes within a significant financial institution. The post-holder will interact with senior leadership and C-suite stakeholders, playing a key role in shaping the organization’s decision-making and influencing critical risk management strategies. Key Responsibilities Supporting the organization’s supervision of significant life insurance firms, with a focus on underwriting, capital requirements, reserving practices, and risk aggregation processes. Engaging with senior management teams to assess and advise on high-level financial risk and capital management decisions, ensuring alignment with industry best practices. Providing valuable insight and expertise in statistical and financial analysis, helping the organization develop cutting-edge methodologies for evaluating financial health and operational risks. Supporting onsite reviews to assess the effectiveness of insurers’ risk management practices, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory guidelines. Collaborating with internal teams to assist with strategic decision-making, especially in areas such as licensing, authorizations, and key organizational approvals. Representing the organization in local and international regulatory meetings, contributing to key industry discussions and establishing influential relationships with regulatory bodies, financial services organizations, and government agencies. Required Skills & Experience A Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in actuarial science, finance, mathematics, statistics, or a related field. A Fellowship or equivalent professional certification (e.g., Society of Actuaries, Institute of Actuaries). A minimum of 10 years of experience in the life insurance sector, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity overseeing financial risk, capital management, and risk aggregation. Proven experience with financial reporting, pricing, and capital modelling within the life insurance sector, particularly in risk management. Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts clearly to senior executives and regulatory bodies. Why This Role?
