Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join a high-performing in-house Global Tax Operations function within the Insurance sector. This role will take ownership of UK direct tax compliance while also supporting US GAAP group tax reporting. The successful individual will have a previous FS or Insurance background and be technically strong, detail-oriented, and confident operating in a fast-paced, regulated environment, with the ability to lead people, manage stakeholders, and drive process improvement. Key Responsibilities Lead the delivery of all aspects of UK corporation tax compliance, including: Corporation tax computations, Financial statement tax disclosures & UK direct tax filing obligations ensuring accuracy, quality, and timeliness Oversee key UK tax claims and elections, including: Patent Box, Capital allowances, Corporate Interest Restriction, Controlled Foreign Companies (CFC) assessments and Anti-hybrid risk assessments Prepare quarterly and year-end tax provisions for Group consolidation under US GAAP, ensuring full SOX compliance. Support and maintain tax governance frameworks, including Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) processes. Monitor changes in UK tax legislation, assess impacts on compliance and tax accounting, and implement required process changes. Manage and respond to HMRC audits and enquiries, including preparing responses and attending meetings and negotiations. Line manage and develop two team members, promoting high performance, accountability, and professional growth. Oversee tax-related outputs produced by finance support teams, ensuring technical accuracy and consistency. Collaborate closely with UK finance and accounting teams to ensure timely provision of data for tax reporting, compliance, and audit queries. Provide day-to-day UK tax advice to the business, assessing tax implications of projects and transactions. Drive process improvement and operational excellence, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency, controls, and best practice across tax compliance and reporting. Qualified tax or accounting professional (e.g. CTA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent). Strong technical knowledge of UK corporation tax. Solid understanding and practical experience of US GAAP tax reporting. Previous experience operating with Finance Services or Insurance Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams and meet tight deadlines. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills. Experience leading, coaching, and developing team members. Comfortable leveraging technology and systems to deliver and improve tax processes. Experience with tax transformation initiatives. Working knowledge of Pillar Two / OECD BEPS fundamentals.
