Principal Electrical Engineer
Location: London & surrounding areas across Southeast

An exciting opportunity has arisen with our client for an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to lead and deliver complex projects within a multidisciplinary engineering environment.
The Role
At Principal level, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of projects within agreed time, quality, and budget constraints. You will act as a technical lead, working closely with internal teams, external stakeholders, and clients to deliver high-quality electrical and electronic design solutions. You will also play a key role in mentoring junior engineers and supporting business growth through long-term client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Lead electrical design delivery, including design calculations and peer reviews
Contribute across all RIBA design stages
Take responsibility for all aspects of assigned project work
Act as technical design lead and mentor within an established team
Delegate and manage work packages, providing guidance and support
Produce detailed design deliverables (drawings, schedules, specifications, reports)
Produce due diligence reports and feasibility studies
Carry out technical surveys of existing M&E services infrastructure
Act as lead representative at project meetings and workshops
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders
Monitor contractors and oversee construction activities
Review and approve contractor shop drawings and technical submissions
Respond to RFIs from contractors tenderers
Witness and review tests and mock-ups (on and off site)
Inspect works and issue quality, defects and practical completion lists
Build long-term client relationships with a focus on repeat business
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 2:2 degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services
8-10+ years' industry experience
Membership of CIBSE and/or IET
Chartered Engineer (CEng) or actively working towards chartership
Essential Skills
Strong technical knowledge of electrical engineering and UK/EU/IEC regulations
Proven ability to lead, mentor and manage engineering teams
Strong understanding of contract administration, procurement and conditions of appointment
Ability to contribute to fee proposals with an understanding of resource planning
Confident presenting and defending designs to clients and design teams
