Associate Director - Structured Finance, Novel Transactions
Position within the Cross Practice Analytical Team (CPAT) focused on Fund Finance and Structured Finance within novel transaction rating engagements. The successful candidate will lead analysis and market engagement for new and innovative structures.
Responsibilities
Lead primary analysis for new rating engagements on novel structured finance transactions.
Conduct rigorous analytical work, research, and write analytical reports.
Interact with market participants to educate external stakeholders and assess novel structures.
Collaborate with cross‑practice and regional teams to provide rating solutions for complex transactions.
Complete the end‑to‑end rating process for new issues and surveillance transactions.
Perform cash flow analysis, synthesize results, and present findings to committees.
Review legal and operating documents to ensure consistency with criteria and provide comments to external parties.
Manage relationships with internal and external clients, responding to analytical questions.
Contribute to training and outreach efforts, including commentaries, podcasts, and webinars.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Information Technology, or a related field.
3‑5 years of relevant experience at S&P or a comparable organization.
Experience in financial institutions and structured finance, focusing on ABS or credit analysis within funds finance in banking.
Comfort considering relative creditworthiness outside of typical criteria contexts.
Ability to assess new asset and structural risks under rating principles.
Diligent, intellectually curious self‑starter with strong work ethic and drive to succeed.
Strong proficiency with Excel, financial models, and financial data.
Strong understanding of financial markets and their relationship to S&P products.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to analyze and solve non‑routine problems in a timely and insightful manner.
Ability to multi‑task and manage deadlines under time pressure.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a collaborative team.
Excellent research skills.
Experience with cash flow modeling for esoteric assets, including triple net, data centers, private equity, and transportation ABS.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of cash flow modeling and programming languages (C++, MATLAB, Python, R, VBA) and strong Excel skills.
Prior experience with data analysis and cash flows.
Compensation
Base salary range: $120,400 – $180,000. Final base salary determined by geographic location, experience, skill set, and certifications.
