Job Title: Principal Engineer – Product Safety

\nSalary: Negotiable, depending on experience
\n\nWhat you’ll be doing:
\nDevelop, implement and maintain the Project Safety Management System within a Systems Engineering framework
\nProduce and manage Project Safety Management Plans & Justification Plans
\nLead Whole Boat Product Safety hazard and risk identification, management and assessment activities, including modern analysis techniques such as STAMP & STPA
\nInfluence the construction and delivery of the Project Safety Case including Safety Case reports throughout the projects lifecycle
\nComplete peer reviews, checking, verification and assurance tasks to demonstrate the adequacy and robustness of the Safety Case and supporting documentation
\nOversee and peer review junior rules in the Product Safety team
\nUnderstand the application of wider Safety Case, Quality and HS&E Management System documentation
\nYour skills and experiences:
\nEssential:
\nScience Technology Engineering Mathematics (STEM) Degree or equivalent qualification
\nAwareness of the challenges posed by the environment that the product will be exposed to
\nExperience in delivery of traditional safety analysis techniques such FMEA, HAZOP, FTA etc.
\nExperience in compilation and delivery Safety Case Reports and other supporting safety documentation e.g. plans, process, requirements etc.
\nExperience of development and working within a Projects Safety Management System
\nAbility to interpret technical data and produce clear, logical and robust safety arguments
\nDesirable:
\nProfessional Chartership or working towards
\nDemonstrable knowledge of design, manufacturing, assembly, commissioning and testing submarines lifecycle phases.
\nExperience of modern safety analysis techniques such as STAMP, STPA, FRAM etc.
\nExperience and knowledge of System Engineering International Standards and application in safety engineering context
\nPrevious experience of leading appropriate meetings and Working Groups

\n\nThe Safety & Environmental team:
\nAs the Principal Product Safety & Environmental Engineer, you will also be responsible for the development and maintenance of the Project Product Safety Management System and Product Safety Cases for the SSNA project and be able to resolve & guide others in solving complex project-related issues/ conflicts across disciplines from a Product Safety perspective. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
