Base pay range Direct message the job poster from D R Newitt Recruitment A leading food manufacturing group is hiring a Head of Business Controlling to take full ownership of production finance across its UK sites. This is a senior leadership role, reporting into the European finance organisation, with direct impact on site performance, margin delivery and strategic decision-making. Role Lead and develop local finance and business controlling teams across two major UK production sites, ensuring robust financial management and strong business partnering with site directors and operations. Own budgeting and forecasting for UK production, working closely with operations to build credible plans and challenge assumptions. Drive weekly and monthly follow-up on production costs, KPIs and site performance, including concise, insight-led management presentations. Lead performance improvement initiatives focused on waste, yield, labour efficiency and operational cost‑out, coordinating into the total UK P&L alongside Commercial Finance. Standardise ways of working, controls and reporting in alignment with the wider European finance organisation, continuously improving processes, systems and use of reporting tools. Own UK standard costs and ensure accuracy and alignment with group standards. Take responsibility for selected commercial interfaces, including retailer pricing models and support on tenders, as well as oversight of capex monitoring and key approvals within production. What we are looking for Proven track record in operational P&L management and business controlling within food manufacturing or a closely related process industry. Experience leading and developing high‑performing finance teams in a factory or multi‑site environment, with evidence of building capability and improving the quality of decision support. Deep familiarity with standard costing, variance analysis, production KPIs and operational performance reviews; comfortable challenging operations with facts and insight. Strong communicator who can business‑partner confidently with non‑finance leaders and present clearly at senior level. High integrity, proactive mindset and the ability to work independently while aligning to group frameworks. Strong systems background with SAP or comparable ERP and advanced use of reporting tools. Role is based in the Manchester Area with responsibility for a multi‑site UK manufacturing footprint and regular interaction with a wider European finance community.
