Lead HGV Mechanic

We are recruiting an experienced Lead HGV Mechanic / Workshop Manager to head up operations within a busy technical workshop environment for an industry-leading engineering company. This role is responsible for managing people, processes, and resources to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of HGV maintenance and repair services. You will act as the main operational point of contact for customers and play a key role in driving performance and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities

Lead all HGV maintenance and repair activities, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and to a high technical standard Plan and allocate workload across supervisors and technicians to meet operational demands Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, productivity, and cost control Monitor and manage workshop KPIs including turnaround time, cost per repair, productivity, and fleet uptime Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, quality standards, and internal procedures Act as the primary operational contact for customers, managing day-to-day communication and expectations Identify training needs and support development of supervisors and technicians Mentor, motivate, and lead the workshop team to maintain high performance Manage workshop resources, tooling, and equipment Control budgets and operational costs, identifying savings opportunities Liaise with suppliers and external partners Support technical fault-finding and escalation where required Requirements

Technical diploma as a minimum; Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Industrial Engineering preferred Extensive experience in HGV workshop management, maintenance operations, or senior technical leadership Strong commercial awareness with the ability to manage costs and budgets Proven leadership experience managing supervisors and technicians Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills Fluent in
