Global Trade Finance Specialist

About This Role Mizuho Bank Europe N.V. is seeking a skilled Global Trade Finance Specialist to join the GTBDE Amsterdam Desk Trade Finance Team. The Amsterdam Desk handles transaction banking activities – Cash, Deposit, FX, and Trade Finance – with a strong focus on Bank Guarantees. The role involves product development and administrative functions for MGeB and Bank Guarantee services for both Japanese and non‑Japanese customers.

The Job As a Global Trade Finance Specialist, you will be responsible for the full administrative and middle‑office process related to Bank Guarantees. This includes coordinating documentation, reviewing applications, managing issuance, amendment and extension of guarantees and SBLCs, handling standard and customised guarantee texts, performing risk assessments and ensuring accurate processing via SWIFT.

Your role also supports the promotion and development of Bank Guarantee services across Continental Europe, working closely with corporate clients and internal stakeholders to originate transactions and contribute to profitability.

Responsibilities

Administration/middle‑office for Bank Guarantee transactions: coordination, documentation and execution of issuance/amendment/extension and/or bid & indirect Bank Guarantees / SBLCs.

Sales and business promotion activities of Bank Guarantees with corporate customers in Continental European countries covered by MBE, maximizing profit contribution and enhancing visibility.

Process Letter of Guarantees: checking and preparing customer instruction sheets; preparing and issuing or amending Letters of Guarantee, surety and counter‑guarantee as SWIFT messages or SBLCs.

Special Text Guarantees: advising and negotiating customised texts, verifying risk, preparing wording, handling amendments/extensions/terminations, improving operations and processes.

Periodical coordination and execution of invoicing, fee calculation and reconciliation.

Handle incoming guarantee application requests; verify regulatory limits and internal approval mandates; prepare guarantee wording (with Legal support); issue instructions to Operations Team in London; monitor and control the portfolio for maturities and renewals.

Collaborate with internal parties to propose marketing strategy, share pipeline information, ensure service delivery and manage end‑to‑end marketing/sourcing and execution.

Communicate problems and resolve them with line manager/Trade Finance Team Head.

Assist line manager to establish team objectives and oversee progress.

Assist JBE/CIB customers in Continental Europe and control sensitive keys and items as backup of Team Head.

Qualifications / Skills

University bachelor's degree.

Professional banker with extensive experience in Bank Guarantee origination, structuring, documentation and arrangement to deal closing.

Experience with legal texts (English law, French law preferred).

Business‑level proficiency in English; French preferred.

Strong relationship building with front office and cross‑department collaboration.

Residing in the Netherlands mandatory.

Relevant banking sector experience required.

Technical: product knowledge, regulatory compliance, SWIFT MT620 experience.

Commercial: deliver business results, operational service, problem solving, effective customer meetings.

Personal: initiative, responsibility, professionalism, ethics and interpersonal skills.

Our Offer

Salary: €90,000–€105,000 all‑in.

Probation: 2 months.

Full reimbursement of public transport.

Pension: defined contribution scheme (100% employer contribution).

WFH allowance: €2.35 per day.

Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, 5 days.

Holiday hours: 225 hours per annum.

CLA: CLA Banks.

Holiday allowance: 8%.

13th month allowance: yes.

3 office days per week.
