Vacuum System Engineer

Cleanliness Expert Location: Eindhoven Salary: € 5.000 - € 7.000

Job Mission You will lead the design and production of some of the cleanest high-tech systems in the industry, meeting extreme cleanliness standards such as Grade 1. You understand the impact of cooling fluids, cutting oils, and production residues on system performance and know how to prevent contamination throughout the entire supply chain. Your mission is to define, validate, and enforce cleanliness requirements that safeguard functionality, reliability, and long-term system stability.

Your Role As a Cleanliness Expert, you are responsible for defining, validating, and protecting contamination control requirements across complex systems and components. Your responsibilities include: Defining cleanliness requirements for systems and components to ensure optimal functional performance. Participating in design reviews to ensure correct implementation of contamination control measures. Leading functional qualification of systems, with emphasis on surface analysis and photochemistry. Taking ownership of root cause analyses related to contamination issues and proposing effective corrective actions. Developing and maintaining design rules that meet ultra-clean system standards. Introducing innovative ideas and supporting the advancement of contamination control capabilities within the organization. Accurately documenting specifications, calculations, validation methods, and test results. Providing methods, tools, and verification techniques to validate cleanliness requirements. Detecting, simulating, and controlling contamination, including designing dedicated tools when required.

Your Profile Experience & Expertise Proven experience in designing and producing ultra-clean high-tech systems that meet the most stringent industry standards (e.g., Grade 1). Experience with ultra-high vacuum systems down to mbar levels. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement contamination control strategies across the full supply chain. Strong understanding of molecular cleanliness and contamination physics. Hands-on experience with validation techniques such as SEM-EDX, RGA analysis, XPS, and particle detection methods. Broad experience in high-tech equipment, scientific instrumentation, semiconductor systems, and space applications. Education Master’s degree in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field, with clear specialization in part cleanliness. Certifications in FMEA, DOE, or Six Sigma are a strong advantage. Technical Strengths Strong background in materials science, analytical chemistry, surface chemistry, and contamination control. Solid experimental and/or theoretical expertise in surface analysis and material characterization. Ability to work independently in a dynamic and exploratory environment.
