Automation Engineer

Job description Join a design and construction team to develop, implement, and maintain an automation solution for our client. The main goal is to modernize the current IT and migrate the client's end users to a new architecture. As an engineer, you will work together with the other developers, each of whom will work on their own area of expertise and integrate the solution to make it suitable for its intended purpose. You will be responsible for designing and developing a solution to automate the provisioning and implementation of the technical components. This will be done in collaboration with the engineers responsible for the IaaS layer. The main goal is to implement the services and applications fully automatically in different areas. Provisioning via a service portal (Service Now) is the chosen method for this. You dream about scripting and sequencing applications with tools such as Ansible, Puppet, and Terraforms, and you are willing to take this to a professional level. These applications will then be deployable with a click of the mouse, and the configuration can be adjusted and loaded fully automatically. Even testing the results is preferably done fully automatically. Your main goal is to eliminate human intervention so that you achieve optimal efficiency for the customer. During the development phase, you are not alone. Paperwork is a must, but it must be supported by technical implementation in the development and testing environment. This environment is the place to integrate your product with those of your teammates. This requires practical knowledge of CI-CD pipelines and virtualization techniques. Once features are technically working, they are brought to the testers on the team. The testers will “torture” your creation and come up with findings or cake. It is your job to resolve those findings and bring the product to 100% within the specifications. You will support your fellow team members where you can, and they will treat you the same! Once you have achieved 100% compliance, there is no time to rest. You will then move on to the next step, or to the documentation for the supporting organization.

Required skills We are going to build something unique in the market. We believe that knowledge can be developed. We have selected a number of specific tools that require training. This training is part of the job and will be organized in the first few months. • Work and education level: HBO or MBO with extensive experience in IaaS automation. • Knowledge of specific programming languages (Ansible, Puppet, Terraforms).

Responsibilities • Responsible for designing automation for deployment and provisioning. • Description of functional and non-functional requirements per technical component. • Provides testers with information about test scripts and use cases. • Responsible for building and configuring functionality. • Develop automation scripts based on input from application developers. • Document the configurations. • Participate in testing and troubleshooting (together with suppliers). • Write supporting documentation for products and services.

Specific requirements and responsibilities • Become a member of the Multidisciplinary Agile team. • Willingness to participate in on-call duty. • Possession of a Dutch passport. • Good command of the Dutch language, both spoken and written. • Successful security screening.
